MINUTES- NEW DOSEY TOWN BOARD REGULAR MEETING- JULY 10, 2013

Meeting called to order at 7:39pm by Chair Dave Fornengo. Also present were Supervisor Dave Baker, Treasurer Margaret Coveau, Clerk Fran Levings, and Jill Warner, candidate for District 5 Pine County Board Supervisor. Absent was Supervisor Ken Coveau.

Motion by Dave Baker, second by Dave Fornengo, to approve the Agenda. Carried.

Guest Jill Warner began her comment with the question “What can the Pine County Board do for the residents of New Dosey Township?” Chair Fornengo responded that he thought the County needs to do more during possible emergency situations. Ms. Warner said she would contact Denise Barnes, Pine County Emergency Coordinator, to update us on the EOP (Emergency Operations Plan). Clerk Levings expressed an on-going need for a faster ambulance response to this part of Pine County. Supervisor Dave Baker discussed road maintenance- stated that the township used to hire the County to do road work in the western part of New Dosey Township. Other topics were also discussed with Ms. Warner.

Motion by Dave Baker, second by Dave Fornengo, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on June 12. Carried.

Treasurer Margaret Coveau presented the Treasurer’s report.(Attached to File copy of these minutes). Fund Balances are: General Fund- $4201.20, Road & Bridge Fund- $10,698.45, Cemetery/Landscaping Fund- $419.33, Fire Protection Fund- $2433.21, Fire Hall Fund- $125.45, Cartway Fund- $89.15, Savings Account- $1155.92, Driveways Fund- $1935.02 and CDs- $43,923.32.
Motion by Dave Fornengo, second by Dave Baker, to approve the Treasurer’s Report. Carried.

Clerk Fran Levings presented the Claims List and the Net Payroll List for approval. (Attached to File copy of these minutes). Motion by Dave Fornengo, second by Dave Baker, to pay these bills. Carried.

NO CLERK’S REPORT.

ZONING REPORT:

1. Letters were sent to three property owners – (1) Kingsdale property owner to remove one of the mobile homes from his property. (2) Kingsdale resident to apply for a Land Use permit for the garage he constructed and (3) Property owner on Hay Creek Rd. to apply for a Land Use permit before doing any planned construction.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Chair Fornengo reported that East Central Energy would charge @ $58/month + for Internet service at our town hall. Clerk Levings spoke in favor of doing so. Supervisor Baker expressed skepticism as to the cost-effectiveness of having the Internet. Discussion will continue at August meeting.
2. Dave Fornengo and Dave Baker will do the required maintenance on the McDermott Creek Bridge.
3. Dave Fornengo reported on the device he had built and installed on a culvert on the Kingsdale Road in our efforts to control beaver damage. The leveler of the dam on McDermott Creek Road is also working well.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Motion by Dave Fornengo, second by Dave Baker, to have the Clerk send a letter to Blaine Township in Wisconsin requesting information on the possibility of them doing some roadside brushing for our township. Carried.
2. Motion by Dave Baker, second by Dave Fornengo, to approve the contract with Robert Brewster for Assessment services for the next year.

Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
