MINUTES – NEW DOSEY TOWN BOARD REGUALAR MEETING – February 8TH, 2023.

Meeting called to order at 7:30pm by Chair Dave Fornengo.  Also present were the following: Supervisor’s Dave Baker & Anthony Fornengo, Clerk Tamara Miritello, Treasurer Wayne Hessler, Deputy Clerk & NPAHD Representative Fran Levings along with Jason Canesi, Scott Trenholm from the public.

PUBLIC IMPUT:

                Candidates for supervisor

Jason Canesi – business owner and moved full time to the area. Family has had property in the township for 47 years.

Scott Trenholm- Retired business owner, has had property since 1995 but moved here fulltime several years ago. Scott is looking to be apart of the community.

Motion by Dave Baker, second by Anthony Fornengo, to approve the agenda. (Carried 3-0)

Motion by Anthony Fornengo, second by Dave Baker, to approve the minutes from January 11th, 2023 meeting. (Carried 3-0)

Treasurer’s Report and Cash Balance Statement – tabled (Carried 3-0)

                                Books are still being worked on by MAT (Minnesota Association of Townships) and Clerk Tamara Miritello.

Clerk Tamara Miritello prepared and presented the Claims and Payroll list for approval.

CLERK’S REPORT

  1. MAT trainer is still working on our books – Audit is completed and waiting for next steps from MAT.
  2. Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting April 20th, 2023 – 3pm @Pine County Govt center in Sandstone
  3. Preliminary Damage assessment from 12/13-12/15 storms have started.
    1. Dave Fornengo has been in contact with County and along with the teams for natural disasters. More info to follow as we are getting estimates on current damage and spring damage. This will be a two-part expense. 8 Counties have been affected by this storm and will seek reimbursement from the state.
  4. Clerk training in February.
  5. All claims and payroll must be filled out by individual and signed.

OLD BUISNESS

  1. Road Work/snowplowing/private drives
    1. Grader did sustain some damage, due to trees and debris on roadways. The Mower board rotation didn’t work and had issues with the gearbox. Dave found a refurbished part for $6,000 compared to new at $15,000.00. there is a core deposit so we will have a small refund.
    1. Shed door will need to be repaired in the spring/summer and will be assessed at the road review.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. NPAHD ReportFran Levings
    1. Hospital District Chair of the Board, Bill Olson, died on Jan. 27th. He was an excellent Chair and a really good person. He will be missed.
    1. An Education Loan recipient who was working at Essentia as an LPN has completed her education and is now employed at the Emergency Room as a Registered Nurse.
    1. Another Education Loan recipient has completed a degree to become a Psychiatric Nurse and has opened a practice in Sandstone know as Selah.
  2. ELECTIONS ReportFran Levings
    1. Motion needed to appoint the following judges for the March 14th, Township Election. Beverly Carlin, Robin Fornengo, and Fran Levings. Tamara Miritello will be the substitute judge in needed.
      1. Motion approved Dave Baker, seconded by Anthony Fornengo, Carried 3-0
    1. Motion needed to appoint Beverly Carlin, Robin Fornengo, and Fran Levings to serve on the Absentee Ballot Board.
      1. Motion approved Dave Baker, seconded by Anthony Fornengo, Carried 3-0
    1. Motion needed to appoint Dave Fornengo, Dave Baker, and Agnes Sexton to serve on the Board of Canvass.
      1. Motion approved Dave Baker, seconded by Anthony Fornengo, Carried 3-0
    1. Campaign Finance Reports are required now even for Township Elections. Write I did not spend more than $750 and give it to the Election Official who will have the Clerk sign it.
