MINUTES-NEW DOSEY TOWN BOARD REGULAR MEETING- JULY 12, 2017

Meeting called to order at 7:35 pm by Chair Dave Fornengo.  Also present were Supervisors Jason Fornengo and Dave Baker, Treasurer Mandy Fornengo, Clerk Fran Levings, Deputy Clerk Beverly Carlin and Contractor Ed Proffit.

Motion by Jason Fornengo, second by Dave Baker, to approve the Minutes of June 13, 2017. Carried.

Treasurer Mandy Fornengo presented the Treasurer’s Report (attached to file copy of these minutes).  FUND BALANCES:

  • General Fund ($7,058.88)

CLERK’S REPORT:

  • Letter sent to property owner respectfully requesting that he/she clean up their yard.
  • Clerk will be attending a Tele-Health Conference at Essentia- Sandstone on July 19.

ZONING REPORT:

  • Land Use Permit # 145 issued to Richard Bodin for a Cabin and Land Use Permit # 146 issued to Seamus Kane for a Cabin.
  • Notification from Pine County Assesssor’s Office of 6 New Dosey Township properties that have been sold. Point-of-Sale septic inspections should occur.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Road Issues (1) Unanimous consensus to accept a bid from Contractor Ed Proffit – “I can deliver pit run gravel to New Dosey Township at $10/yd. in 10 yd. loads.  It will be delivered drop run unless otherwise requested.  I can also provide screed gravel at $15/yd.”  (2) Phone call from a property owner on School House Road- she requested roadside brushing because branches are scratching her truck and she does not want to wait until fall.  Chair Fornengo will arrange for roadside brushing to begin earlier this year.
  • NPAHD report- Representative Levings reported (1) the District is considering a Wellness Column in local newspapers (2) they plan to establish a Foundation (3) Considering an annual Community Appreciation event in 2018 (4) their website had 106 visits in May and (5) each Board member was given a book with photos from the Grand Opening.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Report- Pine County/Local Government Meeting- Attended by Dave Fornengo, Dave Baker and Fran Levings (1) Seminar presentation by Growth & Justice of MN. (2) Concerns raised included lack of rural dentists, reluctance of companies to locate in Pine County due to lack of affordable housing, the Pine County workforce goes south for employment, need for countywide broadband, and 20% of Pine County students live in poverty (3) the importance of arts & culture in rural America was stressed and (4) entrepreneurship (at least one self-employed individual who may employ others is highest in rural America.
  • MAT Short Course-Supervisor Dave Baker took a course in which he completed his certification for the Board of Review & Equalization.

ANYTHING ELSE TO COME BEFORE THE BOARD?

  • Chair Fornengo will contact Ryberg Co. about crushing gravel.
  • Call & Letter regarding snowmobile trail west of Highway 24 inquiring about an easement. Chair Fornengo told the caller that this is NOT a township concern- it is DNR property.
