August 2008 – Wes Cemenski

FEATURED RESIDENT- WES CEMENSKI-AUGUST-2008

Wes Cemenski and his girlfriend Jeni Sunderman, purchased the home right there on the corner in New Dosey Township that longtime board member Ed Magnesun used to own. Wes spent 10 years right out of high school doing landscaping and his talents are so obvious in the lovely grounds he has created on that corner

Wes was born in St. Louis Park on January 2nd 1977. He went to a couple of different elementary schools and graduated from South Minneapolis High School. After working as a landscaper in that area, he and Jeni bought the Magneson home from Jeni’s sister Joyce in 2005 and moved to Cloverton.

While living up here, he worked for a Fiber Optics company in North Dakota, then building ethanol plants .

Wes and Jeni have 2 children-Jasmine, 7 months, and Isabella, who is 3 years old. Because he lives on a very busy intersection, he has been trying for months now to get stop signs put up. No luck along those lines so far. Wes and Jeni plan to be married this month in St. Cloud.

In addition to being a avid hunter and fisherman, Wes has become involved in town activities. He attends almost all of our meetings and was recently hired as the grader driver for ice & snow removal.

We welcome Wes and his family to our community.

July 2008 – Marlene Mishler

FEATURED RESIDENT- Marlene Mishler-JULY-2008

If you take a drive down to the end of McDermott Creek Road to the west in our little township, look over to the left and you will see the beautiful yard and home of Marlene and Don Mishler. You may think that you are viewing a scene right out of BETTER HOME AND GARDENS. It is that lovely.

Marlene was born on May 25, 1939, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Ruth and Walter Bailey. She was the 2nd youngest of 6 children. Her family lived in Minnesota for several years before settling in Des Moines, Iowa, where Marlene started kindergarten. She graduated from Des Moines Altoona High School in 1957.

She married Frank Bowman right out of school. Frank was a plumber and they had one daughter Pamela. During their marriage, Marlene worked for IMI Cornelius in Anoka and they lived in Andover. After nearly 23 years of marriage, Frank died of cancer.

Marlene married a co-worker of hers at Midstate Electrical Manufacturing in north Minneapolis. His name was Don Mishler and he had property here in New Dosey township right next to his mom. They were married in 1982.

Upon retirement in 2001, she and Don moved to Cloverton and built their dream home. Between the 2 of them, they have 8 grandchildren.

Marlene is an active member of the East Pine County Wanderers, our senior citizen organization. She represents this group on the board of the Seven County Senior Federation headquartered in Mora. She is also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Markville.

She was hired by the Township in 2000 and been working since then as one of our housekeepers of the town hall.

Marlene is a potter. For many years before moving here, she owned and operated a kiln and made lovely ceramic objects. This avocation was a big part of her life, but she discontinued it after her retirement. She has not, however, stopped doing the crocheting, embroidering and needlework that she so enjoys.

Marlene Mishler is a delightful, interesting and vital member of our community and we enjoy having her here.

June 2008 – Allen Wolf

FEATURED RESIDENT- JUNE 2008
ALLEN WOLF

When Allen Wolf moved into New Dosey Township permanently in the winter of 2001, we were all impressed with his quiet personality, his friendly manner, and his willingness to get involved in community activities.

Allen was born in the Hastings, Minnesota, area on December 20, 1938 to Lois and Harry Wolf. His parents were dairy farmers and beekeepers. It was this early experience with bees and honey that got Al interested enough that even to this day he himself is a beekeeper.

Al spent the first 6 years of his schooling at a 2-room schoolhouse in Cottage Grove. Then, in 7th grade, he was bussed to the St. Paul Park School from which he graduated in 1957.

He began working at a paper mill right out of high school. During this time, he earned 2 apprenticeships-one as a millwright and a 2nd as a machinist. He spent 41 years working at the plant which underwent 5 different owners during that time. The company began with the name Waldorf Paper Mill and has now changed its name back to Waldorf. Al retired in April of 2000.

Allen met Marge Kegler at a party in 1959 and they were married on August 19, 1961. They have one daughter Heidi Jo who is married to Cary Carstensen. Al and Marge have one granddaughter Danielle.

For several years, beginning at an early age, Allen always took an annual canoe trip up to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and became enamored with the great outdoors. It was while working with a man who owned land in Cloverton and wanted to sell it that Allen became interested in this area as a place to hunt, fish, and perhaps, plan a retirement. He bought 40 acres in 1980, had a little hunting shack at first, then moved their mobile home in after retiring and fixed it up. As mentioned before, he and Marge moved up to stay in the winter of 2001.

Al and Marge sit by a window each morning and enjoy not only a game or two of cribbage, but also the beauty of the forest in which they live. Aside from cribbage and community activities, Al’s favorite activities now are his beekeeping and spending time with his precious granddaughter Danielle.

His community activities involve serving as a member of the Duxbury Volunteer Fire Department and the New Dosey Planning Commission. He is also an official weather reporter for New Dosey and must make a monthly report to Pine County.

Allen is enjoying his peaceful, quiet life in our township and we are enjoying having him and Marge here.

Al Wolf passed away on November 30, 2010.
