RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING NEW DOSEY TOWNSHIP TO JOIN THE NORTH PINE AREA HOSPITAL DISTRICT

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING NEW DOSEY TOWNSHIP TO JOIN THE NORTH PINE AREA HOSPITAL DISTRICT 

WHEREAS, MN statutes –sections 447.31 to 447.37- allows for the creation or reorganization of a hospital district, in order to acquire, improve, and run hospital and nursing home facilities that the hospital district decides are necessary and expedient, and

WHEREAS, the electors of New Dosey Township passed a motion at the March 11, 2014, Annual Township Meeting authorizing the Town Board to investigate and pursue the possibility of the township joining the North Pine Area Hospital District, and

WHEREAS, the chair of the North Pine Area Hospital District and the administrator of the Pine Medical Center in Sandstone, MN presented a comprehensive informational packet including purpose, levy, capital spending, services provided and the economic impact of the North Pine Area Hospital District, and

WHEREAS, there has been a robust debate, well-represented in the media, and in public forum, and

WHEREAS, a New Dosey Town Meeting was held on October 11, 2014, to discuss and question all facets of the North Pine Area Hospital District, and

WHEREAS, it is important to our Township to have representation on the North Pine Area Hospital District Board in order to influence decisions regarding the health care of our residents, and

WHEREAS, it is also important to maintain the quality of care provided for our residents,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the electors of New Dosey Township, voted to have New Dosey Township join the North Pine Area Hospital District.

This resolution will be in effect 40 days after the notice publication, unless a petition for referendum on the resolution is filed with the New Dosey Township within 40 days. A petition for a referendum must be singed by at least 5 percent of the number of voters voting at the last election of officers. If a petition is filed, the resolution does not take place until approved by a majority of voters voting at a regular municipal election or a special election which the governing body may call for that purpose.
